Individual Therapy

At some point, we all will live through a difficult life situation.  Everyone's reaction to life's struggles is unique and deserves compassion and validation. General reactions can include sadness, depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping, feelings of hopelessness, poor concentration, memory impairment, feeling detached from others, and/or thoughts of death.  Seeking help can be challenging. That’s why, as a therapist, I provide a strengths-based, calming, caring, supportive atmosphere that allows clients to feel seen, heard and validated in an authentic relationship.

I specialize in helping clients find solutions to problems related to depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and traumatic experiences. I focus on providing EMDR Therapy but offer a full spectrum of individual therapy treatment modalities that also includes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, and conventional psychotherapy/psychoanalysis.

Therapy is a place that is not just about being seen and heard, but it’s a place where you can see and hear yourself. ~

How EMDR Can Help You

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

It is a therapy proven to help reduce the symptoms of trauma and PTSD,  depression, anxiety, sexual and physical abuse, emotional distress, complicated grief, panic attacks, and phobias.

  • EMDR has a direct effect on the way the brain processes information, releasing emotional experiences that are trapped in the nervous system.

  • As an EMDR trained therapist, I work with the individual to recall a disturbing thought, feeling, or memory.

  • Through Bilateral Stimulation, similar to watching a ping pong move back and forth, the individual's eyes are able to move back and forth.

  • Through this exercise, the disturbing memories are reprocessed helping to repair and restore normal brain processing so that the individual is no longer distressed by the images, sounds, and intense feelings associated with the traumatic memory.

  • Individuals report making more progress in less time with EMDR therapy than with traditional talk therapy.
